Background.

Erdé SA have been manufacturing trailers since 1946 and are now the world’s largest manufacturer of domestic and professional  trailers with production and sales of over 80,000 trailers per annum. Erdé are based near Dijon in central southern France and from there export trailers to most European countries and to the Middle East.

Over 20,000 units are sold every year by Halfords in the UK who have 90 stores spread throughout the country.

Erdé Trailers Australia has the exclusive distributor rights for Australia and has the full backing of the French company. 

The range of trailers, accessories and trailer components is totally unique and unavailable from any other source.

Erdé Trailers Australia has available through  Erdé France, a vast range of accessories and trailer spare parts. This can be viewed on the website under “spare parts” and will enable Erdé Trailers Australia Distributor to be more than just trailer suppliers but also a supplier of a full range of fixtures and fittings not currently available in Australia.

The Erdé Trailers Australia franchisee can become a “one stop trailer shop” for everything to do with trailers either in finished take away trailers or components to build your own.

Erdé Trailers Australia has at its disposal up to 100 different models of trailers from which to select plus the full range of fittings and spares to suit.

Distributors will be able to choose the boundaries and operating areas to suit the size and scope of the business

Distributor Levels

The distributors are offered at differing investment levels to suit individual levels of preparedness, experience and finance.

Level one is considered as an entry level aimed for existing businesses and consists of trailer and accessory sales.

Level two consists of the above plus a higher sales level requiring a retail shop with a front counter for sales of spare parts and accessories.

Level three is the full one stop trailer shop with trailers, accessories, spare parts, components and consumables, the first in each state will be the master distributor for that state.

General Requirements

To undertake this distributorship you will require no less than 200 square metres of floor space for level one to 300 square metres plus for level two complete with sufficient racking to store stock including a display area.  Level three will require at least 350 square metres with a spare parts and component display area and shop counter with storage behind the counter for small fast moving items. The general factory unit will require storage for assembled trailers as well as space for assembly and stock flat packed units.  

It is preferable that the location of the building is accessible with some display area such as a forecourt. Level three distributors should consider their location carefully as they will benefit greatly from passing trade.

A fork lift is essential for ease of handling, storage and delivery.

Workshop tools would include, air compressor, rattle gun, air ratchets and a selection of metric hand tools.

Part of the distributors purchase includes a website and accounting /stock control package so a computer is necessary to maintain good records and optimize marketing.

The trailers will be delivered in a flat pack form therefore require assembly. This is a two person job for most trailers and third person to make the assembly of the larger trailers easier.
